How to Use Ozone to Treat Almost Any Illness in Your Own Home

You may have heard me report to you on several occasions about how amazing ozone therapy is at helping your body to heal and stay well. And you probably already know that I’ve been teaching doctors from all over the world for more than 25 years how to use ozone therapy on their patients. But wouldn’t it be great if you could use many of the amazing healing properties of ozone therapy right in your own home?

Now here’s the really good news: You can, and you don’t have to be a doctor. You don’t even have to have any medical experience at all. If you can make a cup of coffee, you can learn to treat yourself and your family with ozone.

But why would anybody want to have an ozone system in the first place? Here are five good reasons.

One, you will save money. Your insurance is probably not going to pay for therapies other than traditional therapies, such as surgery and medications. Alternative therapies, such as ozone therapy, even though they may be better and safer, are not covered. This can put you in a corner. You have to either go the more traditional route (even though you’d rather not) or get out your check book. Also, with your own ozone system there are no copays or deductions to shell out. Once you have the system, your costs for the equipment are over.

Second, you will save time. I don’t have the time to go wait in a doctor’s office for something that I could just as easily and probably more effectively treat at home.

Third, when properly used, ozone home treatments can take the place of many conventional medical treatments – without any of the side effects and toxicity.

Fourth, ozone therapy partners up very effectively with conventional therapy. It improves the way medications, especially antibiotics, work. We are constantly hearing more and more about bacteria that no longer respond to the antibiotics we have. Did you know that when used together with ozone therapy, bugs that are resistant to antibiotics suddenly become sensitive to them? And furthermore, ozone therapy decreases the toxicity of drugs.

Fifth, and perhaps most important of all, you can use ozone therapy to prevent getting sick in the first place. I’ve been saying it for almost 40 years now, the best treatment for any disease is not to get it. What if you were one of those very few people like so many of my patients who are in their 80s and 90s and who feel great and are on no medications? Why not do whatever you can to be in that group? Ozone can do that with pre-conditioning. But until recently, you had to get ozone from your doctor, which made pre-conditioning expensive. Now you can make it yourself. Here’s how.

First of all, you need to understand that ozone must be freshly made up just moments before it is used. You can’t just make a batch of ozone and then store it away for later use. That’s because once you make it, within a matter of 20-30 minutes, it converts back to regular oxygen. Regular oxygen, as you may remember from chemistry, is two atoms of oxygen (O2). But ozone has three atoms of oxygen (O3). Ozone isn’t as stable as O2, so it naturally moves back to O2. However, when you introduce O3 into your body, it immediately converts into special peroxide molecules called ozonides. And while ozone itself is very quickly used up, the ozonides it produces can last for weeks in the human body. These ozonides have an incredible effect on our cells and organs. For instance, they stimulate the formation of the cytokine molecules that our immune systems use to control and eliminate infections and cancers. They also increase the delivery of oxygen to the cells, which is critical for lung conditions. Then they stimulate the cells to generate more energy.

But that's not all. Ozonides increase nitric oxide production. I've told you in the past how critical nitric oxide is for heart and circulatory health, blood pressure, and sexual function. And finally, ozonides stimulate antioxidant enzymes. You'll see why this is so important in the next article. For now, just know that this is why ozone therapy is by far the single most effective way there is to decrease the destructive action of free radical molecules. Research has shown that after a series of 7-10 ozone treatments, antioxidant enzymes are increased as much as 300%. But your ozone has to be fresh. So you either go to the doctor for it. Or make your own.

In order to make ozone, you have to buy an ozone generator. Then you flow pure oxygen into the generator. As it passes through the generator, it exposes the oxygen to a barrage of electricity. When you impose an energetic force, such as electricity or ultra-violet light, upon a molecule of O2, the two oxygen atoms split apart into single oxygen atoms. But this is only temporary because within a matter of nanoseconds the oxygen atoms will pair up again and reform back into O2 molecules. However, some of them will unite in a molecule consisting of three oxygen atoms, which is ozone.

So the electricity in the generator breaks up the O2 molecules. What comes out the other end of the generator is a mixture of O2 and ozone. That mixture is what we use in medical applications. But there are two very important cautions that you need to know.

There is no problem using room air in an ozone generator that is strictly used for air or water purification. This is acceptable. But in no case should ozone used for medical applications ever be made from room air! Unlike medical grade oxygen, room air contains 80% nitrogen. And when nitrogen passes through the generator, it converts to highly toxic gases. This is why it’s imperative that you use only high quality pure oxygen to generate the ozone used for medical purposes.

The second caution has to do with the ozone generator itself. Oxygen is flammable. If the generator is not properly designed, it can explode or burst into flames. Furthermore, an improperly constructed generator cannot reliably deliver an accurate dose of ozone. In addition, if the tubing and connectors are not of a high enough quality, it can produce contaminated ozone. And finally, it will eventually breakdown.

There are several ozone generators that you can buy online that are cheap and not good quality. Here is a link to my recommended home ozone unit

Even though a good machine is a bit pricey, it's not big. The generator itself is about the size of a shoe box. The oxygen tank is a cylinder that is small (14”) and easily moved from place to place. In fact, you can keep the various attachments neatly packed in a travel case or small box. I have one at home that I keep in the closet and just pull out every now and then when I need it.

Here’s what you need:

  • A pure oxygen ozone generator
  • ABS Impact and Water Resistant Briefcase
  • 240 Liter Oxygen Tank (CGA540 valve) – You will need a prescription to fill the tank with medical-grade oxygen. If that proves difficult, you can use industrial-grade oxygen, as there is no practical difference between the two. They come from the same source.
  • Pediatric Oxygen Regulator (CGA540 valve)
  • Tubing Accessories Package (Oxygen + Ozone Tubing, and Connectors)
  • 500ml Glass Flask (for Ozonated Water)
  • Ozone Destruct Unit
  • 50ml Glass Bubbler (for Oil)
  • 50ml Glass TRAP (check valve)
  • Mini Plexiglass Stand (to hold 50ml Glass TRAP and 50ml Glass Bubbler)
  • 15 Nasal Cannulas
  • Stethoscope
  • RI Bag Bundle (for RI's, good for 50 uses)
  • 2” Glass Cup with Built in Ozone Destruct Unit
  • 1 x 50ml Jar of Ozonated Olive Oil

How to treat almost any health challenge in your own home

I have detailed all of the marvelous physiological effects that ozone has in your body. These effects include slowing down aging, pre-conditioning your body against disease and trauma, preventing atherosclerosis, jump starting the immune system, boosting your metabolism, decreasing inflammation, enhancing detoxification, and controlling free radicals. I am now going to give you a paint-by-numbers recipe book for all the ways that you can use ozone therapy for yourself and your family.

First of all, you need to know how we measure ozone therapy. We measure it in two ways: the volume or amount of the gas that’s used and the gamma the gas is at. The volume is easy to understand. It just refers to the total amount of gas you use. Gamma refers to how much ozone is in the gas. So the higher the gamma, the more ozone is in the gas. Both of these factors will determine the correct dose.

We determine the volume of gas by the flow rate of the oxygen as it comes out of the oxygen tank. That adjustment is made by the flow regulator that sits on top of the tank. For example, when you set the flow regulator to 1/2 liter per minute (LPM), the generator will deliver a volume of 1/2 liter in one minute.

When you get a generator, the instructions will tell you how to properly set the machine for the recommended gamma setting. There are two types of ozone generators that you can get. In the most economically priced generator (EXT 50), the gamma setting is determined by the flow rate. The manufacturer will give you a chart that shows you what the various gamma settings are at different flow rates. For example, in the EXT 50, a flow rate of 1/4 LPM will give you a gamma of 25. A flow rate of 1/8 LPM will give you a gamma of 40. More expensive generators have a dial control that you can use to dial in the right gamma. Once again, the manufacturer will be able to show how to properly adjust your generator for the gamma setting.

Now, before you begin to let the ozone flow, there’s one issue that you need to know. The reason ozone works so well is because it is so much more reactive than oxygen. But because it is so highly reactive it can cause irritation. This is especially true for lung tissue. Even in very small doses, ozone is irritating to the lungs. If you accidentally take a whiff of enough ozone, you will immediately feel a tightness in your chest and start coughing. Normally, this is not a big problem because all you need to do is to relax, take a 1,000 mg tablet of vitamin C, and the feeling will go away in 10-20 minutes. But if you have a history of asthma or chronic lung disease, the irritation could be dangerous because it could trigger an attack. So anyone with either of these two ailments needs to be especially careful not to breathe any ozone. How can you be sure that you aren’t breathing ozone? It’s easy. You can smell it. However, the generator that you receive will have a “destructor” unit that will prevent ozone from getting into the air you breathe.

Ozone also can irritate other tissues. But it takes much higher doses than it does to irritate the lungs. This is why it’s so important to do two things. One, only buy a high-quality ozone generator that meets the high standards of the American Academy of Ozonotherapy. The only company selling an ozone generator in the U.S. for home use that meets these standards is the one I’m referring you to: Longevity Resources, Inc. And two, use only the doses that I recommend for you. If you just follow these simple principles, you will never have a significant problem with ozone.

What you can treat

Now that you have the basic information, here are the major ways that you can use your own home ozone generator kit to stay healthy and treat disease.

Ear infections (both inner and outer) – use ear insufflation (I’ll explain how to do the procedures I mention in a moment) two to three times a day. It is a good idea to follow this up by instilling a few drops of ozonated olive oil. Infections are usually cleared in 1-2 days.

Lung conditions – You can use ozone for any condition involving the lungs including COPD, bronchitis, pneumonia, flu, and colds. Inhalation therapy up to three to four times a day as needed. It is best to combine this with two intestinal insufflations a day. But be careful to follow the instructions so that you don’t inhale any ozone during this treatment.

Eye infections (pink eye) or dry eyes – Use the 500 ml glass flask. Make normal saline as described below in ozonated saline. Put this into the flask and bubble ozone through the saline at a gamma setting of 50 for five minutes. You can use this water as drops or in an eye cup two to four times a day as needed. Note that the saline will lose its ozone after 30 minutes. So you will need to re-infuse it every time you use it.

Sore throats and swollen tonsils – Use the ozonated saline and gargle with it every 15 minutes as needed.

Colds and flus – Use ear insufflation along with inhalation therapy up to three to four times a day as needed. It’s best to combine this with two intestinal insufflations a day.

Impetigo, abscess, insect bites, or any skin infection – Moisten the skin first with some water. Use either the cupping or the bagging technique. With cupping, apply ozone gas at 35-40 gamma directly three times daily for 5-10 minutes. Also apply ozonated olive oil between treatments.

Wounds – This works for any open wound or ulcer. Moisten the skin first with some water. Use either the cupping or the bagging technique. With cupping, apply ozone gas at 35-40 gamma directly three times daily for 5-10 minutes. If the wound is infected, apply the ozone gas at 70-80 gamma until the infection is gone, and then switch to 35-40 gamma for healing. Always apply ozonated olive oil between treatments.

Scalp conditions such as rashes, dandruff, or lice – Moisten the scalp first with some water. Then use a plastic shower cap and infuse ozone gas at 40-45 gamma for five minutes into the cap while it’s on your head. You can do the treatments from every other day to one to three times daily. Note that some ozone will escape using this technique. So to prevent any inhalation, place a fan in front of the face directed at the face and do the procedure either outside or in a very well-ventilated space.

Fungal infections of the skin, fingernails, or toenails – Fungal infections almost always occur on the hands or feet, so the bagging technique is the easiest way to treat them. For other areas, you can use the cupping method as described under impetigo. Always dampen the area to be treated with some water before treating. You can do the treatments one to three times daily for 30 minutes each time. In between treatments apply ozonated olive oil.

Stomach conditions (including heartburn, belching, GERD, reflux, gastritis, ulcers, and helicobacter or H. Pylori infections) – Drink 6 ounces of ozonated water four times daily on an empty stomach. Best times are when you first get up in the morning, right before lunch, right before supper, and at bedtime. Take one to two ozone olive oil capsules with meals, three times daily. It normally takes about six weeks to clear up these conditions. In addition, for the first two weeks of treatment, also take an over-the-counter antacid pill such as Zantac or Tagamet. Take a probiotic capsule every night before bed. Also, stop the use of alcohol, coffee, carbonated beverages, sweets and junk food, and NSAID medications, such as Advil and Aleve.

Intestinal conditions (including colitis, diarrhea, diverticulitis, irritable bowel, food poisoning, intestinal flu, etc.) – Follow the same instructions for stomach conditions. In addition, use intestinal insufflation one-to-two times daily.

Hepatitis (including both acute and chronic hepatitis of all kinds) – Intestinal insufflation one to two times daily.

Herpes Type 1 and 2 – Intestinal insufflation one to two times daily. Also apply ozonated olive oil several times during the day.

Rectal conditions (including hemorrhoids, fissures, rectal infections such as proctitis, and even prostate conditions) – Intestinal insufflation one to two times daily. Additionally, buy some ozonated olive oil suppositories by calling 877-543-3398 and apply one suppository one to two times per day.

Vaginal conditions (good for any infection, including HPV, yeast [candidiasis], and bacterial vaginitis) – It can be used along with other therapies. It can also be used for abnormal pap tests. Vaginal insufflation one to three times daily for five minutes. Additionally, buy some ozonated olive oil suppositories (877-543-3398) and apply one suppository at bedtime.

Bladder conditions – Bladder infections are usually best treated with antibiotics. If the infection is resistant, the bladder insufflation technique can be used two times a day in addition. Patients with interstitial cystitis should only treat the bladder under the supervision of a practitioner trained in treating this disorder.

Bladder self catheterization – In cases of patients who regularly self-catheterize, I recommend bladder insufflation every two to three days before removing the catheter. This will eliminate infections.

Memory disorders – Use ear insufflation and intestinal insufflation one to two times per day.

How to treat

Now that you know some of the disorders you can use your new generator kit to treat, let’s look at how you do each procedure.

Ear insufflation – Use the ear insufflator. Put a drop of distilled water in each ear before the treatment. Run in ozone at a gamma setting of 30-35 gamma for 3-5 minutes. You can do this twice a day. Note that you will need to reduce the treatments if you start to get discharge from the ear. It’s a good idea to follow this up by instilling a few drops of ozonated olive oil.

Bladder Insufflation – Insert a sterile urethral catheter into the bladder and drain out any residual urine. Then slowly inject 10 cc of ozone at 35-40 gamma. There may be some discomfort initially. If the discomfort is excessive, use less gas. The gas should remain in the bladder for a minute, after which you can release it.

Inhalation therapy – This is good for any acute upper respiratory infection, such as sinus infections, bronchitis, flu, colds, and viral pneumonias. Both asthmatics and patients with chronic lung disease can use it. The dose is the same for adults and children. Use a 50 ml glass bubbler, a 50 ml glass trap, and nasal cannulas for inhalation treatments. When set up properly, as the ozone comes out of the generator, it will flow into the glass trap first and will then flow into the glass bubbler. Fill the bubbler two-thirds full with olive oil. Connect the output to a nasal cannula and put the cannula beneath your nose. Run ozone at 7- 12 gamma through the olive oil and inhale the vapors as they come out of the bubbler. Note, this is not ozone. The gas coming off of the olive oil does not contain ozone. It contains ozonides and molecules called terpines. It’s completely safe to inhale. Inhale the vapors for 10 minutes up to four times a day as needed.

Intestinal insufflation – You can use this for any condition, pre-conditioning (see Health Notes), or chronic or acute disease. In my clinic, I use it all the time with virtually every patient. You can perform treatments up to two times a day, seven days per week.

  • Fill the syringe or bag with ozone (see below)
  • Insert a 12-14 gauge male urethral catheter at least four inches into the rectum (two inches for a child).
  • Attach the syringe or bag to the catheter and inject the ozone over about 10-30 seconds.
  • Retain the gas for at least one minute.
  • It is best, although not completely necessary, to do this after a bowel movement.
  • You want to start low and work up to a final treatment of 200 cc volume at 40-45 gamma. This allows your intestines to get used to the ozonides. Start off with 100 cc volume at 15-20 gamma the very first time. The second time increase the gamma to 30-35 gamma. The third time increase the gamma to 40-45 gamma. Then keeping the gamma at 40-45, increase the volume to 150 cc. And finally increase the volume to 200 cc. Remain at this dose.
  • For a child decrease the volumes as follows: the correct volume equals the adult volume times the child’s weight divided by 170.
  • If at any time you experience pain, burning, or rectal irritation from the procedure, back off on the gamma. If there is abdominal discomfort, decrease the volume.

Bagging – This is good for any condition involving an arm or leg, such as a non-healing wound, an infection, trauma, or a rash. Use a typical plastic trash bag. Dampen the arm or leg lightly with some water and then place the arm or leg into the bag. Wrap the bag with an ace wrap to expel all of the air and seal the top with the ace wrap. Insert a tube into the bag and fill it with ozone. The treatment is over in 30 minutes.

Vaginal insufflation – This is best done while lying down prone (face down). Insert a 12-14 gauge male urethral catheter fully into the vagina. Attach it to the ozone generator. Set the generator for 30-40 gamma. Infuse approximately 200 cc of ozone over two to three minutes. You can do this one to two times per day. Cupping – This technique refers to placing a plastic or glass cup over the area you’re treating. The cup needs to have an inlet for ozone to run through and an outlet from which it will escape into a destructor. Longevity sells these in various sizes.

Ozonated Olive Oil – Purchase ozonated olive oil by calling 877-543-3398. To take it orally, warm it to a liquid and then using an eye dropper put it in an empty double “O” capsule. You can buy these online.

Ozone Water – You make this by bubbling ozone into distilled water through a diffuser. The ozone should be at 70-80 gamma. And the time should be 20 minutes. In addition, once you’ve ozonated the water, it will immediately begin to lose its ozone content. So it’s important to use it right away. If stored in the refrigerator it will last about 24 hours. If frozen, it can last indefinitely.

Ozonated Saline – To make saline, add 2 1/4 level teaspoons of pure salt (no sea salt, for example) to one liter of distilled water. Then bubble ozone into this water through a diffuser. The ozone should be at 70-80 gamma. And the time should be 20 minutes.
