Natural Treatments for Ankylosing Spondylitis

Ankylosing Spondylitis can be a challenge and a struggle, but it can be treated.

It is in the autoimmune family. Symptoms include chronic back pain that comes from fusions of discs and tightening ligaments. It is a joint that is supposed to move but becomes fused and cannot move. It is a form of inflammatory arthritis. The ligaments that stabilize the joints turn into hard boney structures.

With this condition, don’t stop moving, you have to be active and keep moving. Movement is life and we can all benefit from movement. Remember Movement = Life

Ankylosing Spondylitis tends to happen more in males than females.

Physical therapy, chiropractic, and massage therapy can help this condition.

Causes: I believe one of the causes can be an infection in the ligament that causes the immune system to wall off the infection and damage the ligament. Calcium in the wrong place makes this condition worse.

Tests: X-ray, blood tests, genetic testing

Complications: Compression fractures, heart problems, decreased range of motion

Traditional/mainstream treatments:

  • TNF inhibitor (Humara)
  • Anti-inflammatories
  • Exercise program- keep moving
  • Physical Therapy

Alternative Treatments:

  • IV DMSO - refined tree sap, softens hardened tissue
  • Injection Therapy
  • Remove the trigger
  • Work on energy pathways
