After only five treatments Morgan say’s he is feeling many years younger and has regained some of the quality of life he was missing.

What is Arthritis?

Roughly one in five Americans suffer from Arthritis. Arthritis is a simple way of referring to many of the symptoms that effect people of all ages. There are over 100 different types of arthritis with the two most common types being being rheumatoid and osteo arthritis. The disease is caused by an inflammation in the joint, often affecting more than one joint.

Arthritis symptoms occur when the cartilage between the joints begins to deteriorate. This deterioration can be caused by normal wear and tear or by an infection and is commonly referred to as osteoarthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is caused by an autoimmune disorder that causes your immune system to attack the soft tissues of the body.

Symptoms of Arthritis

Arthritis symptoms vary from patient to patient but common symptoms are:

  • Pain
  • Stiffness
  • Swelling
  • Redness
  • Decreased range of motion

Some arthritis sufferers experience decreased range of motion, redness around joints, tiredness and loss of appetite. Many of the symptoms seem to be worse in the morning and lessen as the day goes by. Family history, age, sex and obesity are all factors in diagnosing arthritis.

Treatment for Arthritis Symptoms

Currently there is no cure for arthritis, so many of the treatments focus on relieving the symptoms of the disease. The type of arthritis you have will determine the best treatment for you. Some common treatments are:

Analgesics – These treatments address the pain but do not work on reducing the inflammation. Acetaminophen, oxycodone or hydrocodone are often used in this phase of the treatment.

Anti-Inflammatories – These treatments are geared towards reducing the inflammation and may help with some of the pain. Common examples of these would be ibuprofen and naproxen sodium. Many of these types of treatments can be taken orally but some are available as creams.

  • Corticosteroids – Prednisone and cortisone are the two most common steroids used in arthritis treatment. These can be taken orally or injected directly into the affected joint and reduce inflammation almost immediately.

Treating Arthritis Symptoms at the West Clinic

For Morgan’s treatments we took a more holistic approach to reducing arthritis’s effects. We began with Vitamin Injections and combined that with Proliferative therapy while supplementing with Joint Revive. By combining the injections we have seen great success with our patients in repairing some of the damage done by the disease and restoring much of the lost mobility and functionality.
