Dr. James Hollingsworth

D.A.A.P.M., A.P.M.H.A.

Just as Jedi Healers have great influence on their subjects, Dr. James Hollingsworth is extremely influential in his patients healing. His Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) treatments open up the healing channels of the mind and body and help heal by turning on the regenerating capabilities of the brain. His treatments are both relaxing and gratifying, and enhance the treatments you receive at our clinic.

Integration between the body and mind is essential. Balance between the mind and body is instrumental in the healing process.

Dr. James E. Hollingsworth is a practicing Chiropractic Physician in Boise, Idaho and at the West Clinic in Pocatello. At the West Clinic, he primarily provides Functional Mind and Body Medicine, also known as Psychoneuroimmunology or PNI. PNI integrates, links, and actualizes the mind (psycho), brain and nerves (neuro), and the body (immunology) systems to work together to be well: fighting infection, repairing tissues, and modulating cellular activity. Dr. Hollingsworth 'Dr. H' realizes that sickness and disease becomes evident through trauma, being exposed to poisons, and/or pathologic and damaging stress that are worsened with negative self-talk or 'autosuggestion'.

His interest in the psychological component of disease began at eleven years of age, when he read a medical book of his father's written by Ainslie Meares, MD on Medical Hypnosis. At eighteen, he learned of Milton Erickson, M.D. and his use of hypnosis as a therapy of change. Dr. Erickson believed, as Dr. Hollingsworth does, that he did not do therapy on them or to them, but gave them tools of change. He did this to help them fix themselves, as he felt that patient should utilize their skills and talents, to repair, fix, or change whatever brought them into the office. Dr. H teaches patients at the West Clinic how to mobilize and enhance their ability to be well, by expressing their mental processes and to stimulate their immune system and other organic systems to utilize the nutritional substances given at the clinic to help them return to wellness.

Dr. H grew up in a medical family, with a father, uncle, and grandfather that were physicians and some of his first memories were carrying his father's black medical bag on house calls. He loved going to his father's office and watching him interacting and serving his patients. He has been married to his wife, Jo Lynn for 36 years and resides in Boise.

Dr. H graduated from Boise State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Science. He then attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, graduating cum laude in 1984 and then returned to Idaho, setting up practice at home in Boise. He also travels to Pocatello, Idaho weekly, to take care of his patients at The West Clinic. He obtained a Diplomate from the American Academy of Pain Management and is a member of the American Psychotherapy and Medical Hypnosis Association.

He has lectured extensively on hypnosis and psychoneuroimmunology over the years to many groups such as The American Cancer Society in 1990 and was the Keynote Speaker at the 1996 Breast Cancer Conference put on my Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI) and St. Lukes Hospital in Boise.

Behind the name: Jedi Healers used their powers to diagnose and treat the ailments of their patients. They utilized "the force" which accelerated the natural healing process rapidly. They used meditation and believed in the mind's powerful ability to change things or circumstances.
